Indonesian fitness influencer Justyn Vicky has died at 33 years old after a dangerous workout.

The bodybuilder, who had amassed a following of nearly 30,000 on Instagram, suffered a fatal accident when he was trying to stretch his legs while holding a 450-lb barbell over his shoulders, while being accompanied by a spotter. The 33-year-old was taken to a local hospital with “a broken neck and critical compression of vital nerves connected to his heart and lungs.” He received emergency surgery, but died shortly after.

Days before his death, the late fitness buff, shared a clip of himself doing back squats with barbells that kept increasing in heaviness: 374 lbs, 418 lbs, and finally 440 lbs. In the video, he’s helped by coach Bren Leasel, who makes sure to lift the back of the weights behind Vicky for safety. The influencer included an audio clip recorded by another account, which calls the workout “one of the most dangerous.”

For his final social media post before his death, Vicky uploaded a video of himself diving into an ice bath, sharing the benefits of it in the caption. Fans left comments expressing their grief under the video.

“He was always full of positive vibes and make me to stay motivated. I’ll never forget his impact on my fitness journey. It’s a tough loss, but we’ll keep his spirit alive 🙏🏻,” wrote a follower. Another commented, “Rest in peace 🥺 so sad to hear that 😭.”
